Please let us help by calling us, stopping by the office or contacting your health care plan. It is a good idea to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to get arrangements finalized. Let's not be using your scheduled time for paperwork.
I am a contracted, participating 'In-Network' provider with many health insurance plans. Each plan determines the fee or 'Rate' we receive for your services. For a number of clerical reasons, we appreciate and request payment for your portion, if any, at the time of your session. Also, notice 'Sliding Fee' below if you have no coverage.
Contrary to common opinion and most always, Psychology services are mandated by state or federal law to be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan; and, covered with no change in deductibles or percentages from other medical care. This is only recently true.
Medicare and Medicaid are two different programs. Medicaid is a program run by the Minnesota legislature. I do accept Medicad; also called 'straight MA. Medicare, a part of Social Security Insurance (SSI), is a health plan regulated by the Federal government. I can not bill Medicare unless they have specifically authorized services for our sessions. Sliding Fee ScheduleI use an income based fee when health plan coverage is not available and our standard rates would otherwise be too steep. Payment plans over a longer time may also be available.
There are a number of reasons, people choose not to use their health care plan. There are times a client requests services that do not meet the conditions for health plan coverage. Certain educational / training groups, some dog or horse supported services and occasionally off-site assistance are examples with some health plans.

If you have a health savings account / cafeteria plan / flexible spending account / etc. they can be accepted as payment for our clinical services.
Cash and checks are accepted for payment.
Unlike a more traditional doctor’s office, clients do not drop in or call for emergency services. I refuse to overlap my schedule and have people ‘waiting their turn’ the way many other places do. This said, please arrive 'a little ahead of time' for your session.
It is helpful to think of it this way. Our arrangement is based upon time reserved too, not only on services received. Please do notify us with as much advance time possible - if you will be late or - if you have to reschedule your time. I usually have clients on a 'call back' list that may be able to use your time.
